Uuughh. Strange space - we’ve grown well by running counter to that trend (well, I have to do titles that I don’t love...). Comments can be a real mixed bag as soon as youtube pushes out past the sub base

I enjoy your WoW videos. For the news channel, I like that you look at it from multiple sides, but for me personally there is too much opinion in the news. Happy tho that it worked out for you. I am happy that as a viewer I never have to deal with YT comments. Nasty place.

Hah indeed. The opinion thing is super interesting - we're pretty much always discussing the direction of that. Not sure how to word it, but I basically feel that with the current climate, just presenting facts and events will lead to people running wild. (eg epic spyware)

So we kinda went with a direction of each report being in the format of the story itself plus, i guess a mini Jimquisition. Kinda thing where I feel like of a more reasonable opinion isn't put out, then the less informed conspiratorial stuff will fill the gap

A very fine line to walk! Definitely provides new and unexpected challenges that the Warcraft channel doesn't

I think a lot of your audience wants to hear your take on it. So fair enough. I think my point of view as someone within the industry is just different.

yeah, that's very fair. ...and another line to straddle given our studio & its goals. Covering Epic has been a whale of a time, I'm still flabbergasted that some people are agains 88/12 because the devs are 'greedy'.

I think most of those people will have tuned out before the video gets onto indie publishing contracts etc, so it's hard to get the message across. Messy situation!

That whole Epic stuff is beyond me. Feels like one of those loud minorities. We have been there years ago with other launchers. Time will wash over it. This wont be the last one either.
I had my fair share with loud minorities. "BF is dead" each game. Never been true or close.2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

People are upset and an extreme statement gives them more validation. Same for Epic. "I won't buy this." Yet, the games on there will sell. Probably even better since they get exposed to a massive audience and the store isnyyet flooded like steam.

Yeah, I'm fairly sure FAR more people know about Metro Exodus due to it, and Randy is probably part right in saying that BL3 be to EGS as HL2 was to Steam. My main editorial line has been that the EGS needs more features, exclusives aren't great, 88/12 is fucking amazing.

Trying to separate 88/12 & competition being good from the exclusivity bashlash & push that the short term kinda sucks, but long term is very good. Hard to get that through when people feel the current downsides & don't have the dev perspective to see the long term upsides

Yeah, I guess BF must have been interesting lately! Livelong BF player. Wish 5 had more maps but meh, of the BFs I can remember playing, it has the best mechanics. ...well, BFV mechanics + 2142 Titan mode would be a dream come true :P
