I wonder if the real upcoming story is of Overwatch. In a world where it's less about direct competition and more about competition over the users time, it seems like their complete mishandling of Overwatch will lead to other titles winning out.

wow that accidental double negative. *E-sports isn't something that most people care about.

Yep. Been saying this for a bit. Game needs content. New hero? Cool. That's not something literally everyone can play/everyone wants to play. New maps/modes/features.

I always struggle to understand why people say the game is terrible to watch. I'm not sure if it's because I'm very aware of all the characters and the strategies and that makes me biased, but this coming from you who generally knows his stuff makes me question it again.

I can definitely say that as a semi-casual player, playing the same 3 game modes over and over for years does not interest me. This isn't a BR where circle + loot change the feel of every round. A match on King's Row feels the exact same every time.
-
LoL can get away with this by having 140 freaking heroes, but when Overwatch only numbers in the 20s....

I started to get less and less interested when they shifted their focus to competitive. Which was only a few months or so after launch. They just made everything more and more frustrating to the point I couldn't handle it anymore and had to force myself to quit. It's really bad.

Agreed. 10%~ stat buffs/nerfs a month don’t matter at all, and 3 heroes + 2/3 maps a YEAR isn’t enough content for a paid game with lootboxes. They’re over-stabilizing the game so it can be suited for eSport at the expense of actual content. The OWL S2 numbers will be interesting

Overwatch can't be strategically intriguing until it adds another 20-30 heroes. I'm a die-hard LOL esports fan, and the number of regularly picked champions in LOL is greater than the total number of heroes in OW.
-
When you watch LOL, there's always a new counterpick, a new matchup, a new jungle path. And the game is patched every 2 weeks, so the meta is always fresh. OWL lacks any kind of variety because it shipped about 40 heroes short of furnished esports title.

It's too hard to follow what's happening, even if you know the game Oh Genji just killed 4 people in 3 seconds ....cool you can't see it through all the graphics and speed of the game
