Why indeed? The idea that 80% of WoW is unfun is strange statement. If you spend 80% of your time repeating a task you don't need to on any game that would be the case. Like, Spiderman is 80% unfun if I spend 80% of it jumping on the spot, right?
The catchup system is very powerful. A trait that costs 10k will only cost uh like 3500ish after 4 weeks. Bascially being bleeding edge is a right bad time when, by being okay by living a few weeks behind, you get mega efficient progression

You can almost go back to the start of Legion and see when you hit X traits with your artifact. It was an almost identical scaling (except the first few) and the only difference is from my impression a bit less AP in general. At least it shifted from dungeons to world quests.

For me I consider bleedin edge all traits open. I’m at lvl19/20 and that was painful enough. That’s 2 traits, to get the third is another few levels

The other side of this is. I’m stuck with the same effective set bonus for an entire expat and I need more than just raid drops to get it and keep it. No where near as good as tier sets without a major revamp

Tier sets have been anywhere between garbage and overpowered throughout the years. They also mentioned they are bringing in new traits over time. Also look at it from the perspective of playing different scenarios with differrent traits, when set bonuses don't always cover that.

Also once again the problem of people getting used to running multiple alts with 0 effort in late legion and now it's a drag. That mindset has to be ignored for the next few weeks/months. If it wasn't for class balancing issues it would be fine.
