Alright, recent discussion has inspired me to work on a video about how to actually enjoy World of Warcraft. Maximising enjoyment while minimising time investment by dealing with the 'work' content efficiently so that you have more time for life.

I pretty much content that WoW is a 80:20 of work to fun, but that the 80 can be massively reduced through slightly lowering expectations & handling content efficiency.

I'm not being sarcastic or funny in the slightest when I say this: It blows my mind you want to play a game if you genuinely don't enjoy 80% of your time playing it. Why would you do this?

Oh, I don't. I take the best bits and leave. I see torrents of comments from people who seem to have driven themselves mad grinding into oblivion.

I think that the core strengths of WoW (social stuff, group PvE etc) are super strong, but that their various infinite progression systems are quite weak, and that Blizzard have tipped the time balance of their game away from the best content and towards the worst

My big issue with the game lately is that in order to fully enjoy the core strengths, you need to do way too much of the infinite progression stuff. Like, you don't get enough AP as a casual player to even get proper use out of your raiding Azerite stuff...

So I would contend that the best way to enjoy WoW is to not really give a fuck about AP and all that jazz too much, and instead on doing a relatively small amount of social content each week, and then spend the rest of the time on other games.

So in a world where Frostpunk, God of War, Uncharted, (million other games) exist, why on earth would I want to do grind world quests, or Expeditions, past the point where they feel old.

Seems like it was the same at the start of Legion. People forcing themselves to mindlessly grind AP and legendaries. Sometimes you gotta force yourself to take a step back. I was on the MoS train for a while until I realized that I couldn't keep it up, so I stopped doing it.

Well I disagree with all of you in certain parts and agree in others. First of all, wow is a world simulator. Life is exactly like that. A lot of grind and a little fun. The little time you have fun though is so valuable and full that you strive to find balance to keep doing it.

Unless you are one of those people who have turned their fun into a living.. but if you have fun for a living, is it really that much fun?
