Man some people are really pessimistic about BfA launch. Kind of disappointing to see, personally. I think it's been pretty fucking great so far lmao. Am I alone in thinking that?

I think it's more interesting than ever for those of us who are into the lore and the world, but that it has a mix of flawed systems combined with underwhelming ones that make playing BfA feel very similar to playing Legion, but just less exciting.

I’d agree but with two caveats: 1. Legion is freaking hard to follow as it was a great expansion. Maybe their best ever. 2. I actually think the zones in BfA have a better layout and look. I think Azeroth Gear is the big detractor here.

My TLDR: BfA either feels like Legion V0.5 (IE a prototype, a smaller version) or Legion V1.5 (a progression, but not large enough to feel new). All modulated by how Blizzard play to their weaknesses rather than their strengths when it comes to multiplicative design.

IE: Warfronts and Island Expeditions are bolt ons to a core experience that has either gotten worse or not advanced enough to feel new. They don't really have a reason to exist (RE gameplay).

I was about to reply that Legion 1.5 is the more likely for me. The problem is the system they abandoned (Artifact weapons) was better than the replacement. I slightly disagree on Warfronts - they do have a “point” in a faction-conflict focused xpac, but I worry about execution

So to understand my PoV on this, it's really important that I'm not talking about narrative reason (faction war). I'm talking about the systems design of the endgame. Example of multiplicative system that works for the faction war theme: war mode.

I think I see your point, but I’d still disagree ‘cause it could still be an alternative method to enjoy “endgame-lite” content (loot feedback loop) outside of raids and M+. If anything, Legion gave us 2 distinct high level endgames with M+, maybe this intends to give us a 3rd?

I'd recommend looking to older MMOs. EQ1, EvE, etc. I'm absolutely not saying that WoW should be a sandbox mmo. But I do think that they are making it feel tiny with their current direction.

I agree. It doesn't feel "massive multiplayer" by any means. I have some personal thoughts on how they could change that, but without any game design experience I feel it may be poorly thought out.

Yeah,... We have millions of people in a shared world but the scope of the endgame feels roughly the same as Destiny. The dev team need to see themselves as heads of state AND game designers. To understand that it is okay to put parts of the world in the players hands.

Oh, trust me. I’ve played a LOT of other MMO’s and none have hooked me like WoW. I end up playing them for a month or two and leaving. Exception is FF14 which I play all storyline and leave the game until next xpac. But I agree on concerns with WoW direction... 1/2

Just disagree in that warfronts or warfront-style game systems are part of the problem per se. nothing wrong with alternative systems especially if optional. FYI: Lookout for me becoming a patron tonight. Your vids ROCK!

OMG I miss EQ1! Hopefully Pantheon is a proper successor. ( Completely unrelated but anytime I see EQ mentioned I get butterflies in my stomach )
