Essentially, many YouTubers work dumb but work hard. They grind themselves into a fine paste. That's the burnout. My litmus test for if I'm fucking this stuff up: has my job significantly impacted my sleep schedule and diet. The second that happens alarm bells should be ringing.

This is also why I'm very hesitant on doing Twitch. With it, my time is the absolute bottleneck. There are no real force multipliers, no ways to smartly leverage my time. So it seems like a bit of a dead end if work life balance / time for side projects is the goal.

This could come of as victim blaming... and I suppose to a degree, it is. I've been the victim and I've learned from it. We are victims of the systems that we set up for ourselves. We focus on the immediate problems, and not the wider system within which we work.

I dont see YouTube folks as "stars" I see them as as a source of information, fun and a place for advice. I believe chasing stardom is part of the problem

I think mainly its a cost vs reward thing. When you become larger it's easier to offset costs however smaller channels may not have initial funds to do some sort of offsetting. But general position I agree on. One person cannot do a 3 person job with excellence.
