It's why I never believed in Napoleon as a character... He has Britain at his mercy but heads for Russia instead?! Totally unbelievable. No one would ever do it. Bad writing.
Oh Tali... dear sweet Tali... Must I school you on your history? French naval losses at Trafalgar made that impossible, Russia was not his main plan. That's like saying the Germans should have went ahead with Operation Sealion, which was utterly unfeasable for similar reasons.
By that stage Napoleon was pretty much confined to land actions. As you can see in this map of the French Empire in 1812, expansion was pretty much only possible in one direction.pic.twitter.com/1aXoEGENFh
Now that said there is one important point that both the French and German invasions highlight. Both attempted a rush to Moscow in order to destroy the morale of their enemy.
Yes well done Bel three tweets later you work your way to the point of my OP
If you want to discuss the Napoleonic wars that would be awesome but I won't do it in public because I like you. The point is; turns out in real life no one is above baffling mistakes
Perhaps the race to Moscow point was the right one to roll with instead of the impossible invasion of Britian
Perhaps you wouldn't have to try and derail a point about human behaviour (which was clearly written to be punchy) with an essay on the semantics of the Napoleonic Wars if you had a real answer to it? ;)
Bad tactics - we have to protect historical truth. Bending history to make a point all too common and misleads people.
And yet you've managed 6 tweets now without referring to the point of my OP... so it looks like your tactics are working at least.
Oh I'm not arguing against that at all - I was just pointing out that the historical comparison isn't right - that'll damage the effectiveness of the point to people who are aware of the history.
I would wager you are the only one that was bothered by it because you were the only one that (perhaps justly) felt got at by the OP. And that's fair, I apologise if it seemed personal, but this has been a totally unnecessary discussion.
Unnecessary to the WoW stuff, but I think more important overall, albeit for a smaller audience, which Im happy to do on Twitter. Didn't really get bothered at all, just enjoy spreading history. But no OP didn't get at me - Many examples of history having its tremendous derpings
