Not liking the direction of a narrative because of a personal investment you have in it is not the same as a narrative being badly conceived or written. If the point was to make you go, "What? NO! Fuck you Sylvanas!" then it's done it well imo.

aaand finally, I did go through a twitter mentions and found that only a small percentage of people were engaging in personal attacks. So it's quite possible that in trying to do good, all we do is signal boost a small number of people.

Been reading through this discussion and I could not agree with Bel more on the sentiment of emotional charge. I don't really mind what Sylvanas did, but I know others won't be able to stop and consider ALL of the little nuances of why, which makes for a really tangled response.

I agree with you Bel, which is why I stand by my OP :)

I 100% agree with your assessment. I don’t think it was poorly written at all. Despite my not liking it. However, I do think it wasn’t well thought out, as it leaves a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths.

We have been coddled and pampered by family and authoratative personalities to the point where anything that happens outside of our comfort zones means the world itself must bend a knee. Creative Freedom only afforded if it suits our point of view.
