I like playing WoW. I love to raid but sometimes I also like to just be in the game chatting with friends, moving my char around and clicking buttons. WQs are really great for that. And don't underestimate that - it's how many people enjoy the game

Sweet! So that's WoW as a social hub. Really a time where WoW is acting as a 'platform' more than a game. I do think that it somewhat lowers out standards outside of the highly directed raid/dungeon gameplay.

To clarify - your example seems to be saying that it's less that the WQs are good, and more that they're an incentivised reason to stay logged in, where you gain the benefits of hanging out with the people that you like.

But yes I'm on record as saying I think Warmode is the best feature of the expansion.

Huzzah, me too! I think my ultimate point is having the PvE side be a little more War Mode-y. Not PvP of course, but that sprinkling of sandbox design.

Ok so in relation to the op ... do you think the removal of WQGF means Blizz are better or worse placed to implement the kind of changes you'd like to see?

It's hard to extrapolate based on one change. The largest roadblock to sandbox world content is probably the integrity of the game world. WQGF does break that a little by having your realm matter less. So... perhaps?

I would have thought giving Blizz more control over grouping and realm hopping would certainly better place them for those kind of changes. Ps of you really want player - initiated gameplay then I highly recommend playing on an RP server... it's there.

Oh yeah. They create the sandbox that isn't there. War Mode will be best on RP servers, I have no doubt.

So if that's more like how you want Wow to be, why don't you play on one?

Entirely non WoW related reasons. They say doing a startup is like having a baby... Mostly 10-12 hour days and when I'm done work I often find myself wanting to get away from a computer for ye olde mental health.

So opportunity cost is too high in terms of time, and I have too much going on to be a good part of a team because I can't ensure regular availability for events etc.

Neither do we. But I'll be playing the game normally and ill run past a rally or event happening and I can watch or join in or not bother. Sounds exactly what you're after.
