In isolation no, if it indicates a design direction, perhaps. My core point is that WQGF lubes up a gameloop with a lot of friction. So taking it away is going to put more focus on the content, not just the reward loop. I think this will not be enjoyable for players.

I would imagine that, if PvP were your thing, chilling out with War Mode would probably be a more effective of doing that, of chilling with people. (using war mode as an example of a more sandboxy element)

No they are good full stop. They were are large improvement on previous systems and by becoming less mandatory they have improved on themselves in BfA. The more different ways I have to play the game around raiding the better, imo.

I think we're talking along different lines here. I'm more focused on WoW relative to the industry, I think you're focusing more on WoW relative to WoW's past? (both good, I mean I think this explains what we're both saying, potentially?)

Huzzah, me too! I think my ultimate point is having the PvE side be a little more War Mode-y. Not PvP of course, but that sprinkling of sandbox design.
