"Hailing beavers as “ecosystem engineers”, Gow said: “They turn landscapes that are largely dead into environments that wildlife can recolonise.” Water voles will undoubtedly thrive in the non-linear habitats that beavers will provide.

Indigenous communities support c. 80% of the planet’s biodiversity despite accounting for less than 1/20th of the human population. On centring indigenous voices & knowledge: “We are the defenders of nature, of the life of forests, of our territories.”

Bella Lack on - ambassador for - what an inspiration. She doesn't want to be another Greta, & her reasons why not were excellent. Her view on the media was so true on sensationalism. I hope she does well & at an age of 17 she has a great future

This report cuts to the bone. "The biomass of wild mammals has fallen by 82%, natural ecosystems have lost half their area and a million species are at risk of extinction." I don't know how anyone can read this and conclude that capitalism is great.

Two effective types of implementing these corridors: - Land bridges - Rebuilding hedgerows (10 out of 18 terrestrial mammals listed as priority species in the UK BAP make significant use of hedgerows, for food or to enable them to move through the landscape).

This is just a measly selection of the multitude of statistics highlighting the dire state of our ‘green and pleasant lands’ (which now resemble biological deserts).
