Yet it was often made by a team of half a dozen people. There's a lot of fat on the payroll of most of the major studios.

Well for a monolith like EA sure. A team of 600 people and operating at a near loss. An average good title is going to cost $40m. As tech increased not only the cost went up, but the size of teams needed (like from TES Arena to Oblivion). What cost a few million to produce-

-in the early or mid 90’s cost nearly ten times the amount and production then started to span multiple years. I grew up in the 80’s. I’m still floored to this day that games are only $60.

I'd be prepared to accept an increase in sticker price instead of this piecemeal bullshit.
