Well for a monolith like EA sure. A team of 600 people and operating at a near loss. An average good title is going to cost $40m. As tech increased not only the cost went up, but the size of teams needed (like from TES Arena to Oblivion). What cost a few million to produce-

-in the early or mid 90’s cost nearly ten times the amount and production then started to span multiple years. I grew up in the 80’s. I’m still floored to this day that games are only $60.

Game development is more specialized than it used to be. People that are able to do level design, animation, concept art,sound, and code the game on their own are rare now. And that's not even getting into the problem of crunch. Games should cost so much more than they do.
