To derail completely w/ more notes: Sargon believes his position is so right and obvious that it lends him to contempt which turns him into a dumb jackass. Was basically right with his criticisms of Spencer, but wasn't smart enough to actually know why nevermind articulate why.

I essentially ascribe to the Mandate of Heaven theory too, but without a hereditary component. To assume the mandate as inheritance is the smallest step away from assuming the mandate as inherent possession which is the smallest step from assuming self as mandate's origin.

Hereditary inheritance is the most reliable way to keep sociopaths out of power (competitive selections always select for sociopaths) and ensuring that those who take power are appropriately educated.

Fair point, but I'd prefer a moral sociopath to a narcissist who assumes the mandate of heaven. When I mentioned Officer Corps, I meant their understand of their relationship to authority and power, but there's something a little tantalizing about the org structure too.
