One of the most insidious consequences of the sexual revolution is how people now so commonly overestimate the importance and ubiquity of sex as a part of their lives.

Thanks for this thread, it's really well put, makes a ton of sense, and has got me thinking. But for some reason it also feels like really insulting and depressing on like, multiple levels that are hard for me to figure out....
-
It's more that this is stuff that used to be really commonly well known and understood and has been deliberately suppressed as part of the agenda to reframe sex from a productive act to a merely pleasurable one. So, from some backgrounds, this will be "well, duh".

I'm going through that Catholic convert phase of discovering "Oh THAT'S why they believe what they do, about sex".

i just kinda want to figure out how we can have the best of both. Like, get most of the results of traditionalism without the rules having to be so broad and restrictive. I don't want to ever lose the 'fun, horny' side of myself but still prioritize family more than that...
-
i dunno maybe i'm just kind of young and dumb and confused. I'm certainly not religious but i've been coming to understand for a long time now the utility of these beliefs and rules and why they've lasted like that. Maybe I just want to still draw furry porn when i'm old

I think I kinda understand what you mean. Thanks for your insight and your time. I use to use twitter under a different name, and your account has always stood out to me, i searched for it again when i made this one and i'm definitely not disappointed!

do we have to live in this sort of society?

Which sort?

this deranged, decadent one.

There's a reason why monastic orders are predominantly under 35, lately.
-
that's cool and all but those come with vows of celibacy and so don't actually propagate a parallel society

Benedict Option doesn't seem to work. Augustinian Option is harder, but more feasible.
