It's still possible and he shows signs of having the mandate of heaven. Question is whether he's willing to take that step.

I wonder if they'll be stupid enough to try that, hoping it'll be Nixon 2.0

I’m honestly impressed by how stupid the elite have been at handling the Trump crisis. They could have tried to assuage his ego and his supporters anger by cooperating for a couple years. A temporary setback. They refuse to acknowledge how angry people are at them.

I don't think they ever planned for anything like this. I think it's literally an Outside Context Problem for them.

They had 17 months from the time Trump announced (and immediately jumped into a lead) until the time he actually won. Plenty of time to develop a contingency. Just stupid not to. Our military keeps plans for even absurd war scenarios.

That's why I say it's an Outside Context Problem. They literally lack the cultural context to even conceive of something like this happening, which is why they're constantly on the back foot and spluttering "Wow, just Wow".

Trump's arrival in politics is somewhat akin to Captain Cook's arrival on a Pacific Island. Yes, they could feasibly unite and take them on. Except that would require them to have a clear concept of what they're dealing with and how it works.

You’re right. What’s funny is just how out of touch the elite are. I happen to live where the elite in the US do. They genuinely don’t understand why if you go even 50 miles away, people are so different.

Yeah, similar deal with me. I live in the city where the cultural elite in Australia live. Outside their enclaves they've got zero clout and have to force things through policy and subsidies. I can only tolerate living here by being in a neighborhood full of evangelical Chinese.

The cultural elite in Australia have no idea what the attitudes of the people they're importing are. I've got more in common with Chinese Christian dissidents and conservative Muslims than I do with those bourgeoisie fucks and we all know it.

Their interests align....for now. Watch how quickly gay rights go away when we both live in Brazil. They might have them on paper, but they’ll long for the days when us Evangelicals just wanted them to go to a different bakery.

Well, at this point I can't say I'll be sorry to see them go. We tried tolerance and it got us a clergy full of kiddie fiddlers and Slaanesh Cultist Reading Time.
