Pattern recognition could lead to one noticing things that The Cathedral would prefer one didn't notice and for the oversocialised, that would be a very painful and unpleasant experience.

Isn't that what Ted Kaczynski said about lefties
-
Yup. I am pretty dedicated to the Kaczynskian perspective on this meme. I feel it's simultaneously more impactful, empathic and horrifying than "LOL, you act like a robot"
-
After all, who better to turn to than the foremost thinker in the dehumanizing effect of technology?
-
He has some great insights, but I'm not completely on the anti-modernity train. Some things are good, some things are bad
-
My take on anti-modernity comes down more to a rejection of enlightenment-era (& post-enlightenment) philosophy than necessarily a rejection of technology (which has always been around) or Capitalism (which ultimately comes from 16th Century Catholic thinking.)
-
One needn't go full AnPrim to reject the illusory notion of Progress, the evils of social engineering toward depravity, nor to reject democracy and republics, nor to reject the (((globalist))) ideals. Nor to reject the cancer of Nominalism.
-
My furry friend put it nicely. Medieval LARPing isn't a viable option. Rexamining what we have done in the past 5 centuries or so, to determine what constitutes an acceptable continuation of ancient traditions and what is just modern garbage, to be discarded, is doable.
-
While it's a Herculean task, it's doable if we can develop the correct intellectual framework to reliably discern the legitimate heirs of the Augustinian Project.

In a way, it's like training a dog to obey you and only you. That people would do that to other people is frankly, just absolutely ghastly. That's a depth or moral depravity even Josef Mengele may have been fearful to tread.

Hit the nail right on the head, kitty!

@navyhato draws out an essential point to NPC meme in its rhetorical effects—What does it draw attention to?: NPC psychology-behavior is defined by people who engineer an appearance of social agency by regulating its pathways and boundaries.Thanks.
