Do you know of any good definitions of these terms within the context of cognitive neuroscience and philosophy of mind?

Representation. A distinct pattern of neuronal firing that “represents” a specific type of stimulus/event. Pattern of activity across voxels in a brain region that “represents” a particular stimulus or event category. But I believe

A representation is a semantic entity. Causal covariation is not sufficient for semantics.
