Can I ask when everyone learned about residential schools? Because I didn’t know about them until I was 25 even though my mom spent 13 years there. I get why my mom didn’t and still doesn’t talk about it.

As a settler, from reading Thompson Highway's Kiss of the Fur Queen in the late 1990s and then interviewing survivors for a history of Native Women in the Arts in Toronto. Nothing in school.
