    This year the Sydney Smith in Colour exhibition was due to open in the museum. An exciting new interpretation of the famous black and white photographs. It has now been postponed and will open in early 2021.

    Beck Isle Museum is home to the Sydney Smith photographic collection. Donated by his widow Maud in the late 1960s, the collection contains 1000s of images of Pickering, the surrounding area and local people taken in the first half of the 20th century.

    Beck Isle Museum has benefitted from the skills, knowledge and commitment of hundreds of volunteers since it opened 53 years ago. This board was produced in 1992 to commemorate 381 volunteers who had helped in the first 25 years of the museum.
