Isn't this basically legal in San Francisco?

This is “basically legal” everywhere in the sense that petty theft is a misdemeanor, corporations build inventory loss into their accounting and are insured, and the potential legal cost of someone getting hurt trying to prevent theft greatly outweighs cost of items stolen

What about a corner store? Do you think they aren't harmed by petty theft? Do you think that insurance doesn't come with deductibles and rate increases after claims are made?

That's not the point they were making. If it was a local business they dont have the overhead to make up for those losses

And my point is this whole conversation isn’t about local businesses

The main discussion was about large chain stores like Walgreens. You guys a have to resort to whataboutism to try to invalidate the person's point regarding large corporate chain stores.

He literally started with the words "what about" steering away from the topic of corporate store chains like Walgreens.

Discussion wasn't only limited to corporations that's why they mentioned small businesses. Not sure how you cant talk about both. I own a small business that has dealt with tons of theft by well paid workers. I'm moreso saying we shouldn't just say well since it's a corp its ok
