You're kidding, right? The Republican party was utterly destroyed by a usurper named Trump who "won" by splitting the vote 15 ways. Then we all lost
-
Or, it could be said that Trump saved the Repubs by giving them a high-profile candidate to rally behind. Like him or not, he won the Presidency for the Republicans against pretty stiff odds. The Dems still haven’t presented their viters with someone to rally behind.

I’m not so sure it’ll all play out like that. You don’t think republicans aren’t gonna tear into eachother when it’s their turn to run for President? They have shown to be just as egotistical, selfish, greedy as trump is.
-
I think that the Republicans will do everything they can to hold onto the Presidency, even if that mens heavily backing someone they aren’t comfortable with or are embarrassed by. Having something taken away is a core Conservative fear. Losing the Presidency is unthinkable.

I think we’re blue no matter who. People forget the 9000 GOP candidates starting out in 2016.

To the Repubs, Party is Country. They wholeheartedly believe that. It’s a similar thought pattern as ‘Christianity is the only true religion’. It is a powerful, effective tool to use. I don’t believe that Dems have something similar.

Good point, Bob, but remember the last Election. The GOP claimed to have the Cream of the crop candidates, then the unknown, not really wanted at the time, Donald Trump entered the picture. He turned the Party upside down & Won. Even Paul Ryan was Extremely surprised.
-
I do agree though, unless the DEMS vote United under the chosen candidate, that's just tearing the Party apart. All that effort & talent kind of wasted!
