    Halloween costumes are a lot of fun, but we’re sorry to say that your pet probably won’t enjoy one. 🎃 They can be dangerous and might cause them to injure themselves, especially if they become stressed out by wearing one. We think they’re just as cute without one. 😉

    In 2000, Jane came to Battersea to adopt a black kitten named Pepper Pots. 🥰 After 21 years together Pepper Pots passed away and in her memory Jane returned to adopt Kira. We love stories like Jane's, and know that Kira will have a wonderful life with her. 💙

    Blue Watch firefighters have linked up with to show support for rescue animals and for the charity's Wear Blue for Rescue campaign. Our crews often rescue animals from tricky situations but these dogs just needed cuddles & a new home

    As the weather gets colder, some of our dogs would rather spend their days cuddled on the sofa instead of outside playing as they usually would! 🐶❄️ If you do find that your dog is less active in the winter, make sure to adjust their food accordingly to avoid weight gain. 💙

    Dennis was a present, but his owners could not look after a boisterous puppy and brought him to Battersea after just two days. 💔 We urge people to think carefully before getting a pet, rather than get one as a surprise. Thankfully, we were able to find Dennis a loving family. 💙

    Cats and dogs are sometimes thought of as enemies, but with careful planning, that’s not always the case. 💙 To minimise the stress a new dog could have on your cat, try to keep them completely separate within your home for two to three weeks before making careful introductions.

    In 1925, the Evening News reported that London was seeing its dog population increase by thousands yearly. They visited Battersea to see the evidence of this, and captured this photo of one of our keepers with an armful of puppies that had just arrived! 💙
