I am in awe at their level of craftsmanship delivering on a huge punch list of beats to hit and never succumbing to sentimentality

Would love to see a Barry Jenkins directed joint in the next phase of MCU.

Visual poetry that is so well timed with what we want as a viewer. They are so good that they give you what you want before you even knew you wanted it. The relationships propel you so naturally through each frame that 3 hours feels like 1 hour.
-
THIS. I first thought that three hours is a really fcking long time without ANY kind of brakes (mainly the peeing and cigarette kinds), but the time just flew by like nothing with how flawlessly smoothly sailing this movie was.

Weirdly enough this is why Aquaman works so well, and I think its partially tied into being a horror director. You start with confined spaces (haunted house etc...) so you know where you are at all times and have to work with what you got and you maximize the whole location.
-
Aquaman first starts with establishing its various locations and once you get grounded, the action begins, and you are aware from every angle at which action or a character can be coming or leaving from. Spielberg is also amazing at this, look at the iconic JP T-rex attack.
