"Drumstick" is a bastardization of "Drama Stick", a term coined in reference to the use of discarded turkey legs as stage props in 19th century productions.

‘Chicken wings’ comes from the description of actors suffering from stage fright and being unable to leave the ‘wings’ as they were ‘chicken.’
