Contemporary political debate comes down finding the fucking dumbest supporters of a party or cause saying the fucking stupidest things, and then spotlighting them as representative of an entire group or movement.

It's easy and emotion-triggering to do that, instead of engaging in rational, dispassionate debate with individuals, about individuals, ideas, and events. One has to wonder though, how much this is about the increased visibility of existing phenomena rather than new ones
