Was there ever a discussion about how long Atlantis would stay on earth, and what would be involved (particularly politically) with people not wanting Atlantis to go back to Pegasus?

Was there ever talks about an episode like the other guys from season 6 of stargate sg1? I found that to be one of my favorite episodes of sg1 and thought maybe Atlantis could have something like that
