Three friends in the past week had friends held up at gun or knife-point in SF. I've never heard of anything like this in 34 years of being a resident here. What is going on..?

Please don’t normalize criminals by saying they are “economically challenged “ they are thugs! We have organizations donate food/clothes/essential/ pet food .

I appreciate your saying this. I'm concerned that all the rhetoric around criminals being poor is creating an "us vs them" mentality - against the impoverished. I believe it will harm the community, philanthropy, empathy.

Yes, but diction and framing matters. Automatically defaulting to "thug," which is also a known dog whistle," isn't the best choice of words.
