As I stated back in June, I always condemn violence and the destruction of property of any kind. To solve these serious problems, we need leaders who will bring people to the table for challenging and meaningful conversations.
In the Senate, I pledge to continue to support law enforcement. I do not support efforts to defund the police. I also pledge to listen to communities of color who are crying out for support and work to end systemic inequities. I can do both, and have done both in Topeka.
Kansans are tired of politicians using fear to achieve their own personal political objectives. It’s time we come together as Americans to solve these problems. My faith taught me to love thy neighbor.
Dr. Bollier, thank you for the tweets. I am curious if instead of defunding the police, you’d be in favor of reallocating some resources ($$$$) to other parts of the community and programs that would help the most marginalized?
