    Not having great train journeys this trip. All on time, but extremely unpleasant odours coming from a fellow passenger, such that I can’t even bring myself to eat my sandwich in case I gag.

    My hotel in Münster is one of those quaint remnants where you have to leave your key at reception before you leave every day. This is the first time I arrive back with no staff around, so I’m stuck.

    Lovely ICE 4 train. But of the two toilets on my carriage, one is out of order, and the other has been sprayed with liquid shit from a fellow passenger. 🤢

    It’s been a very wet night (and last few days), so we were pleased to see the local flood defences operational on the way to the train station this morning. I think they weren’t deployed last time our stream broke its banks, after backing up from the Schefflenz.

    I’ve been laid low by illness the last couple of days, so it’s good to get out for some fresh air before the deluge begins. I haven’t got any tree pruning done at all yet, but will focus those efforts on trees I’ve already cut last years to keep them in shape. These can wait.

    Muscles aching. Took our back hedge down by 2.5 to 3m, with a borrowed Stihl telescopic chainsaw and trimmer. Heavy bastard when fully extended. Hoping hedge will bush out a bit more, and will be easier to maintain in future. Only got half done though...

    Another reason was to see if a new front hitch fits, for snow ploughs, and the like. Although not sure if a front blade is needed the way things are going. I guess it can also push sand...
