Because you’re being silly, and making those of us who think postmodernism is nonsense look bad.

Am I? How's that? By listening to the hundreds of people telling me the same thing over and over again? By spending a year actually learning the scholarship I'm criticizing? How, exactly?

I don’t know who these hundreds of people are - are they a representative poll of voters?

Listen to people saying why they are going right. Look at the number saying they hate identity politics. Look at populist attacks on the universities & scholarship using grievance studies as ammo. See how society is being affected by ideas of 'white fragility & toxic masculinity'

Or don't if it bores you. Don't engage with the culture wars and the stereotypes of the leftist identity politician or look into the scholarship behind it or the activism produced by it or their impact on society including pushback & loss of credibility for the left.

Guys! Please! This is all just assertion after assertion. You have a hypothesis (“the 2018 midterms are close because of academic research on gender studies etc”) and I’m simply asking for evidence for it.

What do you want precisely? Evidence that ideas underlying identity politics like white fragility & toxic masculinity come from critical race theory and gender scholarship? Evidence that there's a backlash against it? That it's being used to undermine the credibility of the left?

No, evidence that it is the *decisive* factor in this election. I fully agree that grievance studies are BS, dangerous BS, but I doubt they are the main factor in how people are voting.
