Yes absolutely, but they spent all of dubya's two terms vilifying him to the ends of the earth over Iraq so now they look like idiots praising him for his immigration policies or w/e.
It's an inherently volatile system. Capitalism, if left completely to its own devices w/o gubbamint interventions would result in massive monopolies and cartels which would then become bloated stagnant and inefficient just like any bureaucracy.

Capitalism is a driving force, but sometimes it tries to drive off a cliff.

I like to compare it to an ecosystem, wherein the appearance of equilibrium is actually maintained by cycles of catastrophes: herbivores get populous-> eat all the plants->famine->equilibrium Carnivores get populous->eat all the herbivores->starve etc.
-
Ya anything that gets out of balance will eventually have to rebalance itself whether it wants to or not.
-
The same goes for all of humanity. Even after people go retarded with communism and starve to death, the survivors will generally learn a bit and do less of it.

hard times create strong men strong men create good times good times create weak men weak men create hard times I wonder where we are in the cycle? :)
-
That's a clever thing, but there is this trend where people will just keep what they're doing until a disaster happens. A lot of the time, strong men cause the disaster with warmongering. So it isn't as simple as being strong.
-
Tho I will say that being weak will generally not help your prospects if any challenges occur.

Except there really isn't any control because the penalties are so small that it incentivizes companies to take greater risks. Oh well if we fuck up we'll pay the paltry fine and carry on our merry way. Risk management.
