In this thread I want to discuss a common way in which SJW narratives evolve and expand. What happens is that someone will draw a tenuous comparison between an established Bad Thing™ and some new phenomenon , and then imply that they are the same thing, or connected somehow.

Case in point: "People who dislike
#Diablo Immortal hate women, ackshewully". Huh? What?! Let's unpack this claim, which looks like a total non-sequitur to anyone not part of the intersectional hive.pic.twitter.com/8J6D0TOfx3

IMO this is a new evolution of the "entitlement" meme, which I've previously discussed here: https://twitter.com/Banned_Ali/status/1044006595947098113 … When applied by feminists, "male entitlement" is a way to demonise heterosexual men for having standards, needs and desires regarding women.

Notwithstanding the glaring flaws in their analysis (men are plainly less picky, FE), or their hypocrisy in making this case (feminism is just about equality, right?), the trope makes even less sense when applied to consumers and merchants.pic.twitter.com/lTYGwqNeKd

A romantic relationship is supposed to be a compromise and a give-and-take. Partners are supposed to be, well, equal partners. It's not remotely analogous to the relationship between a company and its customer.

Going back to the entitled gamers narrative, in this weird bait-and-switch the company has become the damsel in distress being oppressed by disgusting penis-havers and their expectations.

Game journalists are implicitly making the case that gamers should be doormats to companies, to accept them for their inner beauty despite the 3 abortions, 2 children from previous relationships, drug use, stretch-marks and penchant to get railed by Jaykwon on the side.pic.twitter.com/mZe6uJQjac

The reason feminists are capable of such wild leaps of association is that these established narratives are like mental programs that can easily be hijacked by someone triggering the right flags. Simply slot in a new subject and object into an accepted victim sob-story and prestopic.twitter.com/vWYGyYFQuZ

The real questions are: 1) To what degree these NPCs are being cynically manipulated as opposed to the instigators being themselves pre-programmed drones? My guess is a bit of a combination of both, but I lean toward the latter.pic.twitter.com/MlkpSCXuWI

2) Why are game journos shilling for game companies? Again a combination of factors: on the one hand they need access to get content, OTOH they tend to be buddy-buddy with industry insiders far more so than they seem to have a rapport with typical gamers, whom they tend to loathepic.twitter.com/xkssFPPkOT
