This. Diablo fans and gamers aren't entitled. Games are created to fulfill a demand, and Diablo Immortal isn't something that fans ever wanted. Blizzard should've taken Bethesda's Fallout 4 approach: release a mobile game to promote the main game, achieving the same outcome. https://twitter.com/Banned_Ali/status/1044006600556650496 …

Yes, they need accurate feedback. That question, plus the crowd's reaction, should've told Blizzard what their audience wanted. That AND the trailer being downvoted to oblivion. Several times.
-
No company wants to launch a product like this though. The backlash is bad press and will probably depress sales. In *that* sense the shills aren't wrong to engage in damage control. Blizzard needed this feedback a year or so ago when they were still planning this.
-
>shills in damage control It's just sad to see that these shills are the journos.
Typical, but sad.

One reason why they may have misread their audience this badly is relying too much on GJP opinions and silicon valley dogma over actual user feedback. You know "gaming is diverse", "the future is female and mobile", that kind of horseshit.
-
I'm surprised the journos are equating mobile derision to misogyny. That's not a stretch or reach. There's no correlation.
-
I believe their ""reasoning"" is that mobile gaming is female dominated and seen as casual, but I agree it's a non-sequitur and arguing by comparison to anyone who isn't a kool-aid guzzling intersectional feminist.
-
I believe the proper term is mental gymnastics.
They never even considered the possibility that core gamers hate mobile because of:
-widespread microtransactions
-poor touch controls
-shoddy quality typical of mobile games
Nope. It's because gamers hate women. -
And sweet lord, it's not like Blizzard itself is making the game. They're outsourcing it to a mobile company. Really low expectations on this one.
