And a last question Mother Nature: What effect does religion and historic claims to the land have on all of this? “Ah, sorry, that’s not my area of specialization.”

The line that annexation "could not go unchallenged" has actually been used by the UK at the UNSC. EU co-opting British language just as Britain leaves... Whether UK maintains its position is indeed to be seen. This suggests it might stay course:

Israel consistently cuts the out of any role in the Middle East peace process in any case. Saying, essentially, "be nicer to us or we'll cut you out of the process" seems absurd. In any case, EU seems clear on underlining its opposition to Israel's occupation

It seems the reaffirming its long-standing position on Israel's occupation of the West Bank, and adding that annexation of settlements and the Jordan Valley "could not pass unchallenged", qualifies as "threatening language". Bizarre. (Plus his name is Borrell)

Full EU statement on Trump's Middle East plan. Assume all member states fully signed up on this position. But is Britain -- which wants to stay aligned with the EU on foreign policy?

makes its position on Trump's Middle East plan clear: It does not stick to internationally agreed parameters; EU does not recognize Israel's sovereignty of land captured in 1967 war; annexation of areas of West Bank/Jordan Valley unacceptable and "could not pass unchallenged"

The thread that connects Israel and Uganda -- the Entebbe airport raid to free Israeli hostages in July 1976 in which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's brother was killed -- is extended: Uganda will open an embassy in Jerusalem, and Israel one in Kampala

Germany ran a current account surplus of $293 billion in 2019, equivalent to 7.6 percent of GDP.... That's the fourth successive year it has run the world's largest surplus. No problem at all.

Yad Vashem, Israel's Holocaust museum, has apologized for historical inaccuracies during last week's World Holocaust Forum commemorations. Appears some films/presentations ended up portraying the Soviet Union in a falsely positive light

Until Jan. 31, Britain's negotiations involved 1 country and the Commission. UK had status of an EU member, equal standing with the others, as well as acknowledgement that it was 2nd EU economy overall. Now UK negotiates as 1 vs 27. Its economic weight is 16% of the whole

England are a shower. I’d never heard of Furbank before and I don’t think we should see much more of him. Or Farrell with a shoulder injury for that matter. France fast and creative.
