While I agree that you should be able to make money off of your content (regardless of what
@TeamYouTube thinks) - I think this makes it more of a goal you want to reach. The only thing they "recognized" is that you'll make money after their pre-reqs. Right?
it's also the fact that YouTube has sold out to the big companies, videos are sponsored content, clickbait or drama, whilst large corporations are always on the trending page? I thought it was about us, not companies who pay their way to the top and are rewarded for that

I agree they've sold out, but they are a company. That was their plan in the beginning, like almost any person looking to monetize their passions. I think the term "sold out" is overused. If you monetized your videos haven't you "sold out" to YT?
