Apparent contradiction: - reported duration of novel stimuli longer than conditioned stimuli - time crawls by when you're bored
I imagine the former reports are made post-hoc, the latter made during or before the experience

My guess- if subjects incentivized to give *correct* time estimates, difference disappears. Latter is serving emotional need
