idk why my mom must always doubt me and attempt to incur self doubt in me. I know for a fact she has no trust or faith in my own capacity to know things.

I have seen a friend brought to tears talking with her mother on the phone as her mother induces her, via shaming and emotional threats, to pick apart and examine every detail of a road trip the friend was planning. My friend came out of it with a water-tight road trip plan, 2/N
But obviously also like a completely unnecessary amount of emotional trauma. Like it is almost definitely not a great parenting style. The outcome of self-sufficiency might explain how a parent justifies it though. 3/3
