  4. Even with the colder weather, its still a great time to go for a hike in the park. Today, in celebration of National Hot Chocolate Day, come warm up with a cup on us at the Ben Reifel Visitor Center.

  5. Here are some crazy facts about bighorn sheep: They can stand on ledges that are only 2 inches wide. They can jump 20 feet and can go up a mountain @ 15 mph. The only better mountain climbers in the animal world are mountain goats. Photos by Todd Johnson

  9. Badlands National Park is under a Winter Storm Warning tonight (11/30/18) beginning at 11 PM MST to Sunday (12/2/18) at 5 AM MST. Travel could be difficult during this time, especially during the day Saturday and Saturday evening.

  11. Love plants? University of Wyoming's Larry Schmidt was here this week, digitizing BADL's herbarium specimens for UWY Rocky Mtn Region Digital Herbarium. 1,400+ pressed plant samples in Badlands' collection will be digitized and publicly available.

  13. ALERT: Road work! Sage Creek Rim Road closed for up to 3 weeks for construction. Expect heavy truck traffic on Sage Creek Road as well. All work and timelines are weather permitting.

  14. The Lakota people have deep spiritual ties to the Badlands and surrounding area. Half of the park (Stronghold and Palmer Creek units) are located on the Pine Ridge Reservation and cooperatively managed with the tribe.
