  1. Is hindsight really 2020? Maybe if you’re prey! Eye position is a key factor that distinguishes predators from prey. Bighorn sheep have their eyes on the side of their heads to increase their field of vision. Imagine what that would feel like? More at:

  2. Park visitors helped the staff from Cedar Pass Lodge and Badlands National Park celebrate the National Park Service’s birthday. Cake and ice cream were enjoyed by all.

  4. Sage Creek Road is closed at the bridge due to flooding. Sage Creek Campground can be accessed traveling Sage Creek Road from Hwy 44

  5. This Brontothere (Megacerops coloradensis) skull and lower jaw were found and excavated in 2011 from the Chadron Fm. (37-34 ma) in Badlands National Park. Brontothere=Thunder Beast. It was 8’ tall, 16’ long, & >7000 pounds.

  6. As a part of their summer program, students with the Partners in Parks and National Honors Collegiate Council donated their time while at Badlands to help on a trail crew. They built stairs and moved gravel to improve the visitor experience on Cliff Shelf Trail. Thank you crew!

  18. For years, it was rumored that a mountain lion called Badlands NP home. We now have photographic evidence that this large cat is in fact calling the park home. Mountain lions are amazing creatures and can jump up to 15 feet high and 40 feet in distance!
