I am unspeakably tired of digital palettes that render skies white, nature sooty, and everything else in shades of rain-slicked concrete. (It's by no means exclusively a Marvel thing.)
-
Definitely! Tired of modern movies looking so ugly

this reminds me of spider-verse's use of kirby dots and how it remains the only actual comic book movie

A comic book movie with an actual aesthetic! What a joy!

wild that comic book movies are still so embarrassed to be comic books

at least the guardians of the Galaxy movies have the good sense to really turn the color saturation up

It's like they are still embarrassed by the source material, so they don't want to be bright and colorful. I totally agree, I'm sick of the drabness.

To be fair although I agree Marvel has a colour grading problem, the reason THIS movie looks like that is because the director Chloé Zhao prefers to film her movies on location with natural light and minimal if any greenscreens. At least Shang-Chi looks a bit more colourful.

I have seen gorgeous movies shot with natural lighting. I am not convinced that is the problem here.
