a vivid memory i have is camping outside a Walmart on Wii launch night and it being so cold that everyone's DS Lite screens started ghosting

We camped at a Best Buy; they had no customer purchase limit. First guy in line bought the whole stock then sold to the line at double cost.

Okay, this DEFINITELY should not have happened. I worked at Best Buy that year and we were told specifically one per customer.

I camped out at a Best Buy with my mom for 6 hours for a Wii, she bought everyone in line breakfast tacos & we sang camp songs.

We were 12 and 13 in the line. Turns out they had 11 Wiis. Dude in front of us gave us his spot. Lil sis got her Mario machine that year.
