it's clearly a design choice. The matches are so short, but if you're dying 3+ times in the match, I feel your pain.
Splatoon 2 kept my favorite Splatoon 1 feature: not letting me switch weapons between games unless i exit all the way back out to the menu

i understand why you can't switch MID-game; i absolutely do not understand why you can't switch BETWEEN games

the main issue here is that the game balances match-making based on weapons (won't put 3 chargers on the same team, etc.)

so yeah I don't think they'll ever let you swap weapons in turf war lobbies
