Phones need a "oh, you're probably in bed so I'll lock the orientation on your screen" sensor. Or timer. Or something.
my fantasy is a "portrait locked, EXCEPT when watching videos" setting. i'd turn that on and probably never turn it off

I basically do this by locking portrait and then hitting full screen on YouTube. Not perfect, but close.
