I haven't played either so would you start with Shovel Knight proper or Specter of Torment?
...i might actually like Specter of Torment more than original Shovel Knight. it's that good!

man, they're both so good. it kind of doesn't matter! Specter is technically a prequel, it might be interesting to play it first
