i saw some folks unsure about it, so i stuck my phone camera in the Switch dock - it's definitely using the USB-C connector in the base toopic.twitter.com/D7L0YNJr2g

i think when the tablet clicks into place it presses down those nubs which slide out the USB-C connector into the Switch's port

It would have to. USB-C carries A/V/data/power simultaneously, which was impossible with older standards like MHL.
