for those saying "but Nintendo says the battery lasts 20 hours!" — you're telling me you've never had a rechargable run out on you mid-game?
I can't believe Nintendo is shipping a game console with a controller that can't be charged while you play it. That is 100% unprecedented.

Xbox 360 could not be charged on release, didn't come with a play and charge kit and relied on AA's

that's a better solution than this! with AAs you can just grab new ones when they die and you're immediately fine

Not... really. It makes sense if you look at Switch as a portable-first console. They're being coy w/ "3DS in parallel" for now.

If you look at it as a portable with a really slick, seamless way to jack into your TV - then the limitations are expected.
