god i totally forgot how horrible Mario Kart 8's split-screen framerate is

well-done motion blur can go a long way to making 30fps feel smoother; possibly Forza has it and MK8 doesn’t?

I think it's because you're used to 30 FPS in Mario Kart and it throws you off. At least, that's how I've always thought of it.
-
i used to think that too, but we just opened a new copy of MK8 and went straight into MP and it still felt super weird

it does a trick that alternates updating the split screens every other frame at 60fps for an effective 30. Looks weird.

good motion blur makes a huge difference. I rarely notice 30 with good blur when I'm using a controller.

I know at 60 fps the game drops one frame every second, if it also did that in split screen it would be more noticeable
