trying to articulate my issue with the Sonic movie as kindly as possible: i think embracing a mediocre film as "wow! really good!" sends a message that you'd be fine with almost anything, as long as it's vaguely shaped like a cartoon character you like
i promise: there are passionate screenwriters out there who would eagerly write a worthwhile Sonic movie in a heartbeat. there are people who truly love the same shit you do. you don't have to settle for a hollywood screenwriter cynically gesturing toward something you love

This is pretty much implying that if you liked it you are bellow others. I get it, is fun to make fun of a movie you dont like but going out of your way to tell people your opinion is not only wrong but also problematic is a hot take for a family/kids film
I don't think every film has to be a masterpiece of cinema. I went to the theatre and I was entertained for an hour and a half, so to me it was a good movie. If they do make a sequel, I think they'll have learned from reviews that tell them to tone down the boring non-Sonic bits.

I’m not sure that I’d call Worm Miller “a Hollywood screenwriter.”
Unfortunately passion is beaten out of you in hollywood.
But I think it's only fair we give credit to the studio and the movie for actually being decent considering what we've had up to now. It may not be a masterpiece, but it's better than almost everything before it. You say People could or would do it-- But nobody HAS done it.
