hey, if i wanted to add a short 30-second clip to an hour-long video encoded in h.264...
is there a way to do that without spending 80 minutes exporting the whole entire video in Premiere all over again?

@Aubron yeah, both videos will be comin' outta Premiere with the exact same settings... is this still a bad idea if that's the case?
(i'm sliding in an extra 30-second clip near the end but BEFORE the annotation end slate, so it's sadly not just straightforward concatenation)1 reply 0 retweets 8 likes -

damb. i guess i'll just opt for a full re-export, seems like the least painful option

you should be able to cut the beginning into a separate video, the end into a separate video, and then combine them all. i did this a few months ago with ffmpeg. if avidemux does this it should be possible too

My question though, is that really doing the append? Or is it just reencoding all three files into one (with additional loss with the files being re-encoded)

well if i test it out with this hour-long video, we should be able to answer pretty quickly based on whether it takes 10 seconds or 70 minutes, right? lol

Indeed! Be warned though, it will be faster than 70 minutes regardless, since the Rerender would be against the new, compressed video files

Replying to @Aubron @Babylonian and
So if it’s any longer than literally 30 seconds

looks like it's only taking 3 minutes to re-export the whole 50 minute video with the ending trimmed off (step 1 of the process)... should i be alarmed? that seems SUPER fast, in a reassuring waypic.twitter.com/T7Azz8Zg7P

Good! Sounds like it’s using the ffmpeg wizardry I listed in a previous tweet, sorry for the inaccurate info.
