Not to turn this up to 11, but I’m going to poke the bear a bit with this; if a roku smart tv is vulnerable to what sword&shield is causing the switch to emit, what other bits of tech could be affected?

IoT devices aren’t praised for their security standards unfortunately. A lot of web based devices use outdated versions of android and have tons of vulnerabilities. It just so happens that Roku’s was accidentally exploited
